Alliance of Southern Prince George's Communities, Inc.
ORGANIZATIONAL MISSION AND OVERVIEW
The Alliance of Southern Prince George's Communities, Inc. (ASPGC), is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization established in June, 1992, whose mission is "Building a Stronger Community by Helping Others to Help Themselves." ASPGC 's priorities continue to be education and community outreach.
ASPGC's educational goals are achieved through five after-school/weekend, tutorial programs which operate to: 1) assist elementary and middle school students achieve a minimum 70% proficiency rate on state mandated tests in reading, writing, language arts, mathematics, science and social studies, and
2 ) improve secondary student performance on the Pre-Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT), the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), and the American Collegiate Test (ACT) through tutorial and test-preparatory sessions held at the various high school sites. Due to the excellent quality of its tutorial programs and positive measurable outcomes, ASPGC has been designated a "State Aided Educational Institution" by the Maryland State Department of Education for the past 20 years. As a result, ASPGC has been able to assist over 10,000 public school students to improve their scholastic performance and move on to post secondary education and training.
