Education Goals:
- to assist elementary and middle school students achieve a minimum 70% proficiency rate on the state mandated tests in reading, writing, language, mathematics, science, and social studies by providing grants to non-profit organizations who specialize in after-school tutoring and summer enrichment programs;
- to improve high school student performance on the Pre-Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT), the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and the American Collegiate Test (ACT), by providing grants to non-profit organizations to sponsor preparatory classes at the local high schools; and
- to provide scholarships to help increase the number of needy high school seniors attend colleges, vocational, technical, and other institutions of higher education.
MILESTONES
- Recognized by federal, state, and local officials for contributions in helping to improve student achievements through the after school tutoring and enrichment programs
- Helped over 1,500 students improve their academic performance through educational and enrichment programs
- Provided $100,000 to schools in south county for educational material and supplies
- Provided over $350,000 in scholarships to high school and continuing education students
- Adopted elementary schools to support special projects and programs
- Sponsored annual picnic for over 1,000 senior citizens for each of the past 10 years
- Sponsored annual senior boat ride for 400 seniors for each of the past 6 years
- Provided over $250,000 to support Fine Arts Programs, other non-profit organizations, needy families and local fire and police departments community activities
- Partnered with other non-profit organizations and community groups to address social needs of the community
- Provided annual Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets to senior citizens and families in need
- Provided office space “pro bono” to other community groups
- Acted as Fiduciary agent to disperse Community Impact funds
